Mariahilfe Church

Churches are plentiful in Germany, and are the center of most villages. We visited this beautiful, baroque-style Franciscan church last weekend. It sits on a hill overlooking Amberg and was built in the 16 and1700's as the people were seeking divine relief from the bubonic plague. The detail is amazing.

German Horse show

Recently we went to a horse show in Auerbach. It was unlike one I've ever seen before. All of the horses had braids in their manes. Being that all of the horses came to the show in trailers pulled by Beamers and Mercedes, it didn't surprise me that I didn't seen any western saddles. It was fun to see the jumping.

Volksfest!

One of the first things that we did when we got there was go to the Volksfest our new friends the Hensons took us. Basically just a fair, nothing different then the usual fair except more smoke and intresting culture.

What a ride!

Racheal, this one is for you!

Our first Big pretzel

When we were preparing to move to Germany we told Keanna there were big pretzels! This was our very first BIG PRETZEL!

Ayla's Grand Bedroom

The other day keanna said "Mommy can I go to the bathroom in Ayla's bedroom."

My first real trip off post

This was the look I had when trying to communicate in German while at a restaurant in Amberg. We took a one week class to help familiarize us with the German language and culture. It was a good class, but after spending one day in larger German city, I realized I have a ways to go, still.

The new TOP reason we love our Hotel

Our Hotel is the one place we have found that is smoke free. On Saturday we went to Volksfest, basically a carnival and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOO smokey. We probably took years off our lives. It was so bad that I actually started to get sick. This is the one thing that I don't like about Germany. I wonder what the rate of lung cancer is?
